1) Publication info:

WARNERS BOOS EDITION – printing 1995 – ISBN 0-446-36362-6

2) Main characters:

Hero – Curry Kells, 37 years old. He is tall, has a wavy black hair and a smooth olive complexion with nice hands. He is described for the people who work with him as visually challenged. In his late teens he lost one eye during a knife fight with a member of another gang, responsible for the death of his best friend. His good eye is black as coal. And his chin has a suggestion of a dimple. He looks young when he smiles.
Curry is the newest mover and shaker in New York financial world, had bought out and redesigned Kells-Meredith Incorporated at Seventh Avenue in the garment district. He spends most of his day at his corporate office on Wall Street. He didn’t have much to do with day-to-day at KM Inc., he respects loyalty. And has something of a knack for languages.
His family was very poor and during his teenager years he was involved with gangs. After he was arrested because the knife fight a business man bail him out. That man gave him a boast up the ladder.
Curry was married when he was 24 years old but his wife died during a long childbirth, blaming him every second of it.
Curry saw Ivory for the first time, he thought she was a beggar and gave her a five-dollar bill. Ivory thought he was in pain or something and was only trying to help him.
His name Curry came from his grandmother’s maiden name.

Heroine – Ivory Keene is 22 years old. She has big pale gray eyes framed by thick curly lashes, short, wavy blond hair, oval face with high cheekbones, straight nose and a little chin. She also has a creamy complexion, and willowy figure that was not too thin or too voluptuous.
Ivory is from Harmony, Texas, where she lived with her mother Marlene until she won a scholar ship to study fashion design school in Houston at Paris Design Academy. In the academy one of the female instructors taught Ivory how to speech and social graces.
During her last year, she won a the first place in a national contest of fashion design, the prize a job at Kells-Meredith Incorporated a big clothing firm in New York. However, the job she got was very different of what she expected, thanks to Miss Virginia Raines.
Her first collection at KM Inc. was inspired in Tudor portraits of the mid-sixteenth century. Her collection received the name the Crystal collection and her logo a butterfly.
When Ivory lived with her mother, she suffered all kinds of child abuses, a short while before she goes to Houston Marlene and her boyfriend held Ivory on the couch so that he could enjoy her. Both Marlene and her boyfriend had been drinking.
Her father died when she was young she used to spent summer and holidays with Grandmother and Grandfather Howard. They were sharecropper too and very poor as well but the house was full of love, they died when she was in second grade. Her grandparents used to say that you should never say anything about another person if it could not be good…she used to stay a long time without talking about someone for a long time sometimes.
After Ivory’s father death, her mother got a rich lover Larry who placed Ivory to work on his farmer with the blacks and Mexicans. There she learned about prejudice she was one of them. The Gonzalezes taught her how to speak Spanish like a native, and the Joneses treated her like one of their own kids.
Because everything she lived with her mother she has nightmares and fears her. She fears Marlene returning to her new life.
Ivory name came from a brand of soap.

3) Main characters background:

Curry’s father is descendent from Irish people and he left them when Curry was seventeen. He uneducated, illiterate, a dockworker and used to beat his wife and Curry.

Teresa Kells, Curry’s mother. She is from Puerto Rico. She has large black eyes, salt-and-pepper hair that she uses in a bun. Her hands are twisted with arthritis. Teresa is considered for anyone who knows her as a paragon of a mother. She worked two jobs to put food on the table and clean cloths to her kids. Besides Curry she had 2 more kids, Audrey and Andy; Andy came late in her life and is severely retarded. He lives in a nursing home. She is very possessive with “kids”. She is dying of lung cancer, but she had the chance to met Ivory before it happens. Teresa liked her.
Teresa never said one harsh other against her husband even after his desertion twenty years ago.

Audrey, his sister, is married to Ben, an overbearing computer executive, Teresa did not like. Audrey is a vice president of a major corporation.

Ivory’s father was a sharecropper, and illiterate. He died while working. He and Marlene were forced to marry after Marlene got pregnant for both parents. He only tolerated Ivory because she reminded him to much of Marlene. He had a brother that died in Vietnam.

Marlene Costello, 37 years old with dyed back hair and blue eyes. Although Marlene has traces of remaining beauty, she dresses like a tramp. Her idea of haute couture is a dress cut to her navel with tassels; she smokes like a furnace and drinks like a fish, and her vocabulary can make a sailor blush. She has a very pronounced Texas drawl.
Marlene resents Ivory and her only interest in her is monetary.
The only person at Harmony, Texas that saw through Marlene was a policewoman that moved away, Ivory has no idea where was she.
Ivory conception happened because her father promised Marlene a new dress if she went to bed with him. She got pregnant and was forced to marry. She was 14 years old.

4) Storyline:

Ivory Keene ran away from a sad past, involving child abuse and an alcoholic mother. After won a contest to work in a big fashion house in New York City as designer, she sees a chance to try and change her life.
Curry Kells is a big business man that had just bought the almost failed house and he sees in Ivory a chance to put his business back on the market, with some refreshing and exciting designs.
They fell in love and just after they talk about marriage, Ivory’s mother brings back her past and expose all lies she had been telling... to everyone even the man she loves.

- Tim, 8 years old, he has curly brown hair and dark eyes. He is missing a tooth where his father had hit him in a drunken rage a year or so before the family had lost their apartment. It was a permanent tooth and it wouldn’t grow back. Ivory met him in her first day as a volunteer at the homeless shelter Dee brought her to. She was not too eager to work there because of her own memories of the poverty she used to live back home. But the prejudice didn’t last long. Tim got AIDS, when he accidentally stuck himself with an infected needle from his new friend Jake, he used to be a bundle boy but lost his job and can’t get another job, because of it hi shoot up. Tim’s mother name is Miriam; she is the granddaughter of a chieftain in the country she came from, Zaire. She has 2 more girls besides Tim a toddler and a nursing kid. She is very talented with her hands.

- Dee Grier, Ivory’s best friend, she also works at KM Inc. as head seamstress Dee has green eyes and blond hair. Her mother was a journalist always looking for new histories while Dee used to take care of her little sister. She helps and supports Ivory’s ideas of fashion design.

- Miss Virginia Raines is a senior designer at KM Inc.; her work is her life, doing it for already 25 years. She was never married. She has short salt-and-pepper hair no frills ever and uses stylish glasses, same age of Curry’s mother. Miss Raines does her best keeping Ivory away using her in small jobs. She is very afraid of Ivory’s talent. In her world everything is structured, measured, no space for spontaneity.

- Belle Harris, one of the models that worked for KM Inc. she goes out on a dates to show off the new designs. She is redhead with green eyes.

- Harry Lambert is tall, brown-haired – something of a roué, but nice people. He is one of Curry’s vice president at his financial empire.

- Gaby, another model that Curry uses to go out in casual date to show off pieces Ivory’s design. She is brunette.

True Colors reprinted ISBN: 0-373-77015-4 by HQN written under the name Diana Palmer
2. The hero and heroine are Cyrus Harden and Meredith Ashe AKA Kip Tennison. Cyrus Granger Harden known as Cy is twenty-eight when the book starts. He is now thirty-four year old owner and CEO of Harden Properties. He is tall with a lean face with high cheekbones, thick black eyebrows and deep set dark brown eyes.
Meredith Ashe is just turning eighteen at the start of the book. When she returns to Billings she’s turning twenty-five. She is a blond with grey eyes.

Is Tony Tanksley is the man Mrs Harden paid to frame Meredith so she’d leave Montana.

Don Tennison is Meredith’s brother in law and wants control of the company they run together.

Lara is the woman Cy uses to try and make Meredith jealous.

Mrs Dale runs Cy’s steak restaurant where Meredith works after returning to Billings.

Meredith’s great aunt Mrs Mary Raven and her husband John Raven-Walking raised her when her parents passed. They where alive at the beginning of the book but they both passed by the time she comes back six years later.

Hero – Joshua Cabe Lawson, 34 years old. He is very tall and

personal computer. He is a millionaire many times over
taking risks sensible men avoided.
He was sent to an exclusive military academy when he was 6
years old, learning the stiff-backed discipline that had
enabled him to take charge of his father’s company at the
age of 24 years old. Josh had increased the company’s
profits fifteen percent the first year he had control. The
board of directors, dubious in the early days, had become
allies.
He was Amanda Todd’s late father business partner, and had
always supported Amanda while her father was alive, and even

Heroine – Amanda Todd, 23 years old. She is tall and
slender, with black hair down to her waist and pale green

structure the job description of the staff that overlapped
both businesses. But repressed from childhood by her
overbearing domineering father, she hadn’t yet learned how
to be aggressive without being offensive, and when she made
gentle suggestion no one would listen to her.
She is in love with Joshua since her teens.
3) Main characters background:
- Joshua’s father died 10 years ago, When Joshua assumed the
presidency of Lawson Company. He was a playboy and almost
lost everything. He used to cheat his wife.
- Joshua’s mother is still alive and looking for her 4th
husband. She used to cheat her husband although in a
discreet way with man half her age.
- Brad Lawson, Joshua’s younger brother. Brad is 25 years
old and works as vice president of marketing at Lawson
Company of San Antonio, Texas. He has the charm and charisma
his older brother sometimes lacked. Brad has brown hair and
dark eyes like Josh. He is tall and handsome. He loves women
and women love him too. He had gone through 2 nasty
paternity suits over the years. Amanda and Brad had known
each other since childhood. She had always felt like a
sister to Brad. He likes to gamble.
- Amanda’s father, his name was Harrison Todd and he had
just died leaving a much messed state. Harrison was not a
tender man. Amanda and her father were never close. He
didn’t have modern views concerned to women in business. In
fact he had screamed bloody murder when Amanda had pursued
her dream of a degree in accounting at college. He used to
guard her like the crown jewels.
- Amanda’s mother, died in childbirth. She gave her husband
even before Amanda’s birth control of part of the baby’s
inheritance, until the unborn child was twenty five, but now
Josh had it. Her family owned the gazette for a hundred
years already.
4) Storyline:
This book is about Josh and Amanda but also have 2 different
love stories. An adulterous one that leads to a tragic
development, with Dora and Ward Johnson, and a happy one –
between Mirri and Nelson Stuart, her co-worker. After years
of misunderstands they find their happy ending too.

24. A redhead with blue eyes, she dresses in a way to hide
her true self. She is very afraid of man. She was raped by a
gang in her teens. She works at the FBI as a secretary to
Nelson Stuart. Joshua calls her Tiger Lily.
Nelson Stuart – Mirri’s boss and love interest. He is as
dark as Josh is fair. He is 37 years old and works for the
FBI for already 15 years. Nelson is a virgin.
Ward Johnson – Works as management for Todd’s gazette for
already 15 years. He wants to close it down or sell the
equipments. He just slogged along from day to day in the
same old rut. Ward felt threatened for the first time in
years when Amanda had walked in the door. He is married to
an alcoholic named Gladys a miserable human been that makes
his life hell. Gladys commits suicide. He has a son Scott,
with 16 years old, that is also an alcoholic and a drug
addicted. Ward and Dora get involved in a adulterous
relantionship that leads to a tragic result.
Dora Jackson – she’d been Ward’s high school sweetheart. Now
they were both married and trying to keep a happy facades.
Dora is pleasant voluptuous, with a sweet smile and freckles
and reddish gold hair framing her very blue eyes. She went
to Ward asking him for some kind of job to keep her busy.
Dora is married to Edgar Jackson (a successful husband, and
educator) and has two kids Tommy and Sid both boy and
preadolescents.
Danny Tammer a womanizer that made a very blatant pass to
Mirri. He is a clerck at the FBI, a couple of steps higher
on the pay scale than Mirri. He was also expendable.
Gazette’s employees – the full time employees included Ward;
Amanda; the typesetter, Lisa Graham; and press man Tim
Wilson, who doubled as staff photographer in between his
duties for the print shop. Dora who primarily helped make up
the paper, and two college students Jenny Creigh and Vic
Martin, who did a little reporting and a lot of
proofreading, past and donkey work, worked part time.

Kate was young and inexperienced, but she knew that Jason

Long, deep rich brown hair down to her waist, dark slender

Oval face, wide-spaced pale green eyes under long lashes, a
straight nose and a bow mouth. It wasn’t a particularly
beautiful face. It was thin and high-cheekboned with a
creamy complexion. She has a sweet personality and a kind
of unabashed honesty that overshadowed her lack of beauty.
Tiny waist and full hips and long graceful legs.
Full of fun so unlike Jason.
Born next door to the Donavan’s. Raised in strict fashion
by old-fashioned, church-going parents. Kate’s father
(Frank) was the foreman on the Diamond Spur until his death.
Occupation: Worked as a serger on the pants line at
Clayborn a manufacturing company.
Designer
Drives and old Ford that she shares with her mother. Later
after she started designing she got a new used black Ford
Tempo. Her mom cosigned with her. Traded in the old one.
Poor - she lives with her mom.
Likes country western music.
Friends with Jason, but loves him so much.
Kate was a virgin when Jason seduced her and she became
pregnant on the first time.
She agrees to marry Jason.
Kate miscarries while she is in Atlanta, Georgia with her
work.

Kate is pregnant with her second baby. A son named Cade is
born and has colic.
At three months old Cade Christopher Donavan was baptized at
the Presbyterian church with two grandmothers, four
godmothers and three godfathers.

Rumor has it Sheila was madly in love with old J.B. Donavan.
Stayed to take care of the boys after Nell left. She had
character and an uncanny tolerance for people.
Only man Sheila ever loved went to Korea in 1952 and never
came home.

being blind she went to live in an intermediate care
facility in Tucson when Jason goes looking for her. Jason
had not seen her for fifteen years.
Nell had a baby girl that died when J.B. accidentally hit
her with the car.

Works in a local textile factory on the shirt line.

Blalock Donavan
Young Confederate sergeant in the Civil War from Calhoun
County, Georgia who in 1873 won what was called Bryan place
with a Royal Diamond Flush. Also a silver spur in the kitty
that he won and thus the ranch became known as the Diamond
Spur and remained 113 years later.
Red Barton
Just out of his teens, a good cowboy with a tendency toward
alcohol. Saved Jason from a diamondback his first week on
the ranch. Had a job for life.
