Egan Winthrop, aged 34, is a silvery eyed Wyoming rancher with a

J.D. BRETTMAN: - aged 36. Board face with an olive complexion and deep set eyes. Black hair which is thick and has a deep wave in it, threaded with pure silver. He has faint scares on his face which age him (p12). When looking at J.D. he's built like a tank. J.D. has just started smoking again (cheroots) after quitting years ago. He is a famous criminal lawyer who grounds hostile witnesses into sausage meat. He allows no one to really know him, no close friends on family except his married sister Martina. J.D. lives alone, works alone, except for the few times he has taken Gabby alone when he thinks a women's touch is needed. J.D. has had a hard life his father drowned in the bath when he was a baby. His mum died of a heart attack when he was 15yrs old. He was left to look after Martina on his own. He joined the Special Forces to earn good money so he could put Martina through boarding school. When he left the forces he became a mercenary to keep Martina in schoo!
l. A part of J.D. misses this old life and the freedom it give him. While J.D. was a mercenary he went by the name of 'Archer' because he had a fondness for using a crossbow.GABBY DARWIN: - aged 23. Green eyes, long dark hair which is mainly piled high on her head to keep it out of her way when working. Has loose strands of hair curling softly around her face, which gives her an elfin look. She has a body with graceful curves (p10). Gabby has been working as a paralegal at Brettman and Dice law firm for the last two years. She does a lot of close work with J.D. going out to meet witness and informants. She loves this new life she is leading its exciting, so much different than back home in Lytle Texas. Gabby is not married as she cannot be bothered to get involved with anyone, so is still a virgin. She admires J.D. and over the two years she has worked for him has slowly fallen in love with him but keeps it a secret. Gabby knows that J.D. cannot love anyone other than his sister. Gabby loves to read about Roman and Greek history, she has learnt a lot about the world from a book. She also loves to visit the old ruins of the world when !
she can.3) Storyline:
Gabby has worked for J.D. for over two years. Then out of the blue he takes her on a trip to Italy to see about saving his sister who has been kidnapped. Gabby is going to be his cover story lovers on holiday. Once in Italy they find out J.D.'s sister has been taken out the country. So first they fly to Mexico to meet up with friends of J.D.'s then onto Guatemala. Once there J.D. is re-united with more old friends, mercenaries from his old days. They plan to go in and get J.D.'s sister out before she is killed, that's when Gabby realises that J.D. is an ex-mercenary. During the rescue things go a little wrong and Gabby ends up shooting a sniper before he shoots J.D. This causes J.D. to withdraw from Gabby emotionally as well as physically. In a last attempt to keep Gabby away from him J.D. scares her very bad. Once back home an at work things go from bad to worse with Gabby deciding to leave her job and J.D. Each of them is fighting which they feel for each other !

FIRST SHIRT: - Probably nearing fifty years old, short man, sandy blonde hair with a face like a railroad tack and a slight figure. He's ex-special forces and still works as a mercenary. He works for Diego at the moment. (No book of his own but has been in 'The Tender Stranger'1985)

SEMSON: - a dark, lithe man with pale blue eyes. (No book of his own but has been in 'The Tender Stranger'1985)
MRS DARWIN: - Gabby's mother. She runs a small ranch in Lytle Texas. She is well known for being able to hunt, ride, rope and cuss like a veteran cowboy. (No book)

Summary:
Jennifer King lost her New York interior design job when she gets sick with pneumonia. She worked in Atlanta at a temporary agency as a typist. That is where she meets Robert Culhane, and was offered a job in to work in a Texas ranch. She would be a secretary and housekeeper. When she reaches the ranch, she meets Everett, who informs her that his brother Robert was killed in an accident. Everett decides to give her the job. They work well together until one day when Jenny falls off a horse, and her blouse tears. Their passion is unleashed, and they begin to fall in love. Everett becomes short on money, and cannot pay for his bull that he had just bought. Jenny decides to take a part time job at an interior design firm to help him pay for the bull. When he finds out, his pride takes a beating, and he kicks her out because she is a “career woman”, and he had a bad past experience with a city woman. She starts to work for Sally Ward’s firm, where she meets Drew, who flirts with her. Everett sells his oil rights to have enough money to hire Jenny to redo his house. Jenny reluctantly accepts. When they work together, they discover the chemistry is still there, and later confesses their love for each other.
Jennifer works for Mrs. Whitehall. She creates a nursery because Amanda and Jace are expecting a son after 6 years of marriage. The son's name is Joshua Brand Whitehall.( From The Cowboy and the Lady)
