Gannon is a widower, his wife died in a car accident and he was driving the car (page 33), he’s 37 (page 44), is 6’3” (page 42). He has blond hair (a shaggy mane of hair), a mustache and he a Dutchman (page 28). Gannon runs his own company, and taking care of problems keeps him busy as he hasn’t left the house after the accident until he goes for walks with Dana Steele, his nurse. Gannon’s house is very large, built of gray stone and it overlooks the Atlantic, with flowers growing all around (pages 25-26). Gannon’s mother died when he was born, and he has a stepmother (page 33). Dana Steele is 24 (page 44), she has a Nordic face, platinum blond hair, and brown eyes (page 9). Dana is estranged from her father, her mother told her lies about him, saying he only married her mother because Dana was on the way, that there had been other women while they were married, and that he made her mother go along with the divorce, which upset Dana (pages 11-12). Dana had been in an auto accident with her mom Mandy and her mom was killed. Her nurse, Mrs. Pibbs who taught Dana while Dana was in nursing school and got her the job of private nurse to Gannon because she knows Gannon’s stepmother Lorraine. Dana has a roommate Jenny. By the end of the story, Dana makes her peace with her father and her stepmother Sharla. Lorraine van de Vere is Gannon’s stepmother, and she married Gannon’s father when Gannon was 10. She told Dana that she was just a substitute, that Gannon’s father buried his heart with his first wife (page 33). Lorraine gets along with Dana very well, and his thrilled when Dana and Gannon hook up and become engaged. 3) Secondary Characters- Mrs. Pibbs Dr. Willis Aunt Helen Mandy (deceased) Jack & Sharla Steele Jenny (Dana’s roommate) Dirk van de Vere (Gannon’s brother, description of Dirk on page 64) Layn (Gannon’s ex girlfriend) 4) Pets- Neither one had a pet They were engaged at the end of the book, don’t know anything about children they had. Blurb from back of book: In a tragic accident, Gannon van de Vere had been temporarily blinded, and despite hours of prayer, kindness and sheer persistence, nurse Dana Steele couldn’t penetrate his wall of darkness.
