I thought that the book fell short of the high mark that we have come to expect. Harley Fowler had always had a strong and likeable character. In this book, the book is almost totally about Alice, with Harley being kept of the fringes. I was disappointed in Diana's treatment of Harley's character. I thought that Alice and he had no chemistry at all. I think maybe Alice should have be hooked up with one the the many law officers floating around. Maybe Harley should have been paired with Merrie(Stuart's sister)...maybe then sparks would fly. "RE: Harley Fowler in Maverick" In response to message #1   I liked Maverick but I agree that the book could have had more Harley in it. I thought the chemistry was okay but would have enjoyed more love scenes. I loved the humor of the book and thought Alice was funny. "RE: Harley Fowler in Maverick" In response to message #2      I was just disappointed there was no dancing.... even though it was new years in the book Thought Alice was hilarious... Harley was funny too but as with the last couple of books (paperbacks) it was just a little too short.... Maybe it was just being used as a link for the next Hard cover next year?? ? DP really threw me for a twist with the whole Harley's father being a senator. WOW!!!! And I just love Alice. She is a riot. I was surprised Harley's father is a senator, and the fact his father ran over Harley's sister. It was great he was paired with Alice, she kept me laughing the whole time and I was happy that Harley stayed a gentleman in the book. I agree with Cath though, I would have preferred dancing in the book though, as we all know what a great dancer Harley is.
