"Lord of the Desert"

LAST EDITED ON Nov-29-06 AT 11:24 AM (EST)

Lord of the Desert is a thrilling book with lots of emotion. Philppe Sabon and Gretchen Brannon give us a story filled with intrigue, love, anguish, good and evil. What do you think of their story?

I loved that book! OMG!! I thought Philippe was never going to have any relationship with a woman, but I think he found his true mate on Gretchen! This girl is wonderful! When I started reading more and more the book, I can picture her in top of a horse through the desert with a big sword trying to defend Philippe! Yes, yes, my imagination does take into some weird places sometimes! Both characters are really unique, like all the others, but there love scenes are the greatest! Besides the romance, we have a bit of every other thing that makes the plot really interesting to read!

Cause the more I drink, the more I drink
Yeah, I'm the world's greatest lover and a dancin' machine
I get loud, I get proud....and it gets worse
Well if I have one, I'll have thirteen
Naw, there ain't no in-between
Cause, the more I drink, the more I drink.

Lord of the Desert is one of my favorite books by Diana. The Desert Love scenes were HOT! I loved the friendship that Gretchen had with Phillipe's father. The scene where Phillipe came after Gretchen when he found out she was expecting a child and she threw the books at him was . I wanted to bop Phillipe over the head a few times for being so dense and paying so much attention to Brianna and ignore Gretchen. The scene's with Curt Russel and Marc was very funny and I loved the fact that Diana brought the original 3 Mercenaries out of retirement in this book to help out Phillipe. I think Phillipe met his match in Gretchen and she really stood up to him at the end.

I remember reading another book with the same theme (Johanna Lindsey's) and you know, I loved Diana's ten times more! Yes, I know, I'm a Lindsey fan, but Diana's book was really different! It has some funny parts and it wasn't that dense!

Well! What can I say that all of you have not. I am so glad that he found her!. I loved every minute of this book. Her relationship with his father, her strength, and her love for him! Everything combined helps to make her the perfect heroine. I think it also helps the story that you have a contrast of light and dark. She being fair and blonde he being dark. This may sound odd to some of you but I think it is that age old stuggle between dark and light. You can relate it to so many things. Coming from despair into happiness etc. dark to light.

I have to say the first word I think of about this book is sad-I just wish the light had come a little earlier.I have to think the jealousy in this books charactrs(especially Gretchen)must have been horrible.I would have learned 9 different ways to kill a husband & a Brianna if I had been her.

I have to say that Lord of the Desert is one of my favorite books. I agree with all the above posting. Gretchen may look fragile but she has strength, compassion, love, laughter, the making of a future queen and the right woman for Philip. I like the part that they became friends before lovers. This story has it all, passion, excitement, intrigue, humor, & great love scenes

I have to say this book is among my favorites. I love how they meet and then they go to Qwai. When they get there, she first has to win over the King. When she tries to protect the Prince in the desert, I think she gets his approval. Lucky girl!! However I wouldn't want to make her mad. Remember the guard that questioned her about being married to the Prince? I think he still has a broken leg and some missing teeth. Gretchen would do anything for Phillipe. Tring to rescue him in the desert and then at the wedding. That's a couple to be reckon with. I know I'm not. All around great book.

I loved this book as well. In addition to what everyone else said, I liked that Philippe trusted & loved Gretchen enough to let her look at his scarred naken body even though he was mad at the time. I liked that he realized that he was "whole" with only Gretchen and that he wasn't aroused by Brianne at all, only Gretchen.

Like everyone else - this book is definitely in my DP top ten!
I think it is well written because the settings are excellent, the characters are revealed slowly as the story unfolds, and as Gretchen and Philipe spend more time together.
When you think of the beginning of the book where Gretchen accepts an unknown position in an unknown country, as a substitute - I was amazed at her courage. I don't think I know anyone who would take on that situation. Philipe, at the beginning, was a slightly creepy foreigner with dark connections and a penchant for virgins.
Yet Diana managed to flesh out their strengths and attractive qualities to write a beautiful and unforgettable story.
I adore how each love scene encounter heats up by a few degrees at time (and Philipe becomes a little bit more able each time and Gretchen allows him to go a bit further each time), until the tension becomes unbearable.
A fantastic read.

Efy

Marc raised his sister right! Gretchen is one tough cookie! At first I thought she would be a weakling but boy was I wrong! She is definetly strong enough to be a Princess or Queen. She has strength and a heart as big as Texas.
Philippe and Gretchen have a passion between them that is extremely hot. I give this book a thumbs-up!

Desperado and Lord of the Desert are almost the same kind of heat and intriguing story, don't you think?

This is a wonderful book. Charachters have an interesting evolution from the beginnin to the end of it.
Philippe starts as romantic man, to become a heroic figure, when he saves Gretchen riding on his horse through the desert..
But when he ignore his new wife because of Brianna arrival I think everybody hate him!
Gretchen must have used Tippy's iron skillet on his head..twice..
That book she throws at him wasn't heavy enough!
