"Lawman Discussion"

Lawman, the story of Garon Greer, the tough hardened FBI agent on the trail of a child serial killer and Grace, the girl next door. What do you think of the story between these two very unique people, both living with tragic backgrounds and thrown together during another tragic event, the death of Grace's grandmother? Garon is a man you love to hate and Grace is a woman filled with compassion that you can't help but admire and love. Tell us how you feel about this story and the storyline of a child serial killer.

DP brought the tears out of me with this book, and THAT is saying a lot because I usually don't cry. I was was embarrassed and shaking with Grace when Garon was humiliating her and I was sobbing and my heart was breaking with Garon in the hospital.
I thought Grace appeared to be such a dish-rag at the beginning when her grandmother was alive but somehow found her strength and personality as soon as the old lady kicked the bucket. I liked he spirit and courage and compassion!
I liked the way Diana showed Garon wasn't just a man of stone. He truly had a heart and she made me see and feel how it was breaking.

I give Lawman a 9.8 because I felt this book all the way to my toes.

Mimi

I love Lawman. When Grace collapsed and Copper told Cash what was wrong with her and then Cash had to tell Garon. I balled like a baby. I actually cried a lot during this book. With the way Grace's grandmother treated her and then Garon making love to her and then shunning her. Also Grace's past was simply heartbreaking. A Wonderful read.

I'm like everyone else - I really like this book.
Definitely an emotional read - I was more frustrated with Garon's insensitivity for most of the book, and I agree that Grace was a bit non-descript to begin with.
Alot of truths came out in a big rush at the end - Garon's previous marriage, Grace's MENSA-level IQ and ability to speak Arabic (where did THAT come from?!) - it all made it a bit hard to process. I wish these truths came out earlier and were explored a bit more. It would have meant less drama but more satisfaction for me.

Good point, Renata, about Cash & Garon...

Efy

Okay now you have all peaked my interest and I am going to have read the book. I do love it when an Alpha Male has to fall to his knees to get the girl and to humble himself. Nothing makes me happier. Serves guys right for acting like that, didn't their mommas's teach them better?

I do like that point that they both married women from abusive pasts, it just goes to show you that there is life after pain and misery.

I love this book and agree with all the comments. Both Grace and Garon had dark secrets and rough lives but in the end they saw the light in each other. Garon as a loner realized what it means to love and be loved. As for Grace, she is tougher than she looks. Her past (kidnapping/child abuse) did not stop her from living.

I love this book (of course I say that with all of them, and this one has a Grier brother!). I like how they both had their secrets, but the one thing that touched me the most is how Garon felt when he found out about Grace.

And yes Renata, I did think about the fact that the Grier boys both married women who were victims of child abuse, but I forgot about that until I read your post! It's been a long week and I'm tired, I think my mind is failing me!

This is the first time I take part in the book discussion and all the posts before me say it all and how I felt about this book. The part that really hit me and I never saw coming was when Garon says to Grace: "don't you die Grace, don't you dare" you see I said those words to my Mom the night before her heart operation and well... we don't all have happy endings.I never cry when I read DP's books but this one did it. Like all her books it's so well written that it's hard to put down and when you're finished you wish you had a couple of more chapters. Michèle F.

I am new to this, but I think I want to direct my message especially to Amy8 She seems to have the inside track I, too, love this new book and also had to have a box of tissues handy while reading it. I have done my usual and have read it twice already. I am a long time and devoted fan. I wondered if Amy noticed the typos and discrepancies in the book? I got my copy from Amazon. I always love any interaction with past characters around Jacobsville.... especially the long tall texans and mercenaries I was disappointed when the ones noted in this book did not seem to match my memory of past beloved books? Surely Leo is married to Janie? And isn't Tess Cag's wife? I just wondered if it was just me? I also had a number of extra words and words left out, etc.? Is this just normal nowadays in books? I have to admit that none of these things will stop me reading this book one little bit! It is truly a lovely story and true fans take Garon's initial personality with a grain of salt because we know what will happen in the end. Speaking of which, anyone loving this story that may be new to Diana's books should definitely look for an old copy of the The Case of the Mesmerizing Boss for Dane and Tess's story!

I agree, there were too many typos and discrepencies in the characters. I love DP books, and nothing will change that, but I wonder where the editorial staff was during this publication. I'm not really up on the editorial process, but I do know they hire people to proof-read books. I think it is a shame that they let Diana down this way.

The story was marvelous! I do love a good cry when I know there will be a happy ending. Garon was the typical DP hero; I loved him. I've read some complaints about the sexist heroes, but I love them; the tougher the sexier.

GOOD MORNING LADIES:

I WAS TRYLY SORRY THAT I MISSED THE BOOK DISCUSSION LAST WEEK, HAD A LITTLE FAMILY EMERGENCY THAT DAY..

JUST WANTED TO SAY THAT I LOVE LAWMAN. I ALSO READ IT TWICE ALREADY. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE ALOT OF TYPOS, IT DID NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE STORY AT ALL. I WANTED TO LITERALLY KILL GARON, THAT IS WHY WE NEED FOR DP TO CREATE A NEW STRONG LEADING LADY. NOT THAT THE LADIES SO FAR CAN'T HOLD THEIR OWN, BECAUSE THEY ARE GREAT, BUT I WOULD LOVE IF DP CREATED A LADY THAT THOUGHT MORE LIKE A MAN... MAKE THEM SUFFER FOR A CHANGE... LOL LOL

BUT I LOVE THE STORY.

I had been saving Lawman to read over the holiday's. Well, I read it all in one day! I think this is my new favorite. I'm a little sad now that I don't have any new DP books to read, but I'm re-reading some to keep my memory fresh until the new one comes out. I just finished re-reading Renegade and realized that Garon is older than Cash. I didn't get that feeling while I was reading Lawman. Anyway, I loved it.

I just finished reading this book and it was another great one by Diana. I loved Grace and how the town became her family and watched out for her. How she finds passion with Greer and he takes her from a dark place and shows her how to be a woman. It was so intense and the story line with what happened to those other little girls was so overpowering sometimes I had to to stop and put the book down for a bit. Your thoughts just have to regroup.
I could relate to Grace a bit as I lived with my grandmother for a time, but belive me my grandmaother was the exact opposite of Grace's, Thank God. I cannot comprehend how any grandmother could be like that. But hey its just fiction after all.

Smiles
Kathleen

This book is one of my most favorite books by her. I love the way that the book turned out even with the child serial killer. I am glad that Grace found the courage to tell what she remembered about her kidnapper and that in the end that it was basically Grace who cracked the case wide open for them. In some parts of the book I just wanted to reach right in and smack Garon upside his head because of the way that he was treating Grace.
