"Lacy....Book Discussion"
Lacy, the story of Cole Whitehall and Lacy Jarrett. Cole asked Lacy to wait for him and she did. After Cole returned from the war he was a different man. Lacy yearned to turn the cold, hard man into the one she knew before the war. Cole, compromised into marrying Lacy refused to be under her spell. Lacy wouldn't let their lives go on this way. What do you think of Cole and Lacy's story? Did they find everlasting love? What of the others who play such an important part in their lives? What do you think of Cole and Lacy?

I love Cole and Lacy's story. To be honest I have been so busy with work I have not had time to re-read it so I am going by Memory here. I love how independent Lacy was and how she went after what she wanted. The secondary story between Turk and Cole's sister was wonderful. The only think I really did not like about the story was in the end when it told about Turk dying 20 or 25 years later. I know it was a distance in the future but it still made me sad Alert | IP Printer-friendly page | Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Was going to try and work in my schedule to re-read Lacy...however like Amy have to go from memory....which right now isn't too good. I do remember Cole and how he tried to be so resistant. And I forgot all about Turk. So I will have to definately go back and read this book again.
This is not a very good 2 cents worth to add to the discussion on my part is it?!

I haven't re-read my copy either, so I don't know if my input will great. I liked Cole and Lacy, how independent she was, and of course, Turk. What I didn't like in the book was Cole's brother, and the fact that you had several story lines going in the same book, as sometimes I got confused about what was happening. Like I said, I don't know if this discussion is any good as I didn't have time to re-read my book.

I will have to admit that Lacy, is not one of my favorite DP stories. I think that the fact that there are several story lines happening at the same time bothers me. At times I wanted to take a skillet to Cole and then Turk and Ben. They all needed a good talking to behind the woodshed and I think that is what makes me not like this book as much. It is a good story but just a little too much action at once for me. Kay

I have sort of re flicked through the book again i have to say historical fiction is not really my thing although i did enjoy this book. It was as you all have said a bit busy too many plot lines for me. i did like Lacy's independent attitude to life, I eventually felt sympathy for Cole, Ben i disliked and Katy & Turk could have been a book in their own right. I sort of liked the ending that tied in some of the other stories in (its only one of the things I love about Diana's books).
Probably not one I would choose to re read over and over.Mandy

I was more into the story of Turk, Kathy, and Blake. I do agree with Amy that it was sad when at the end he dies. It was sad for them but at the same time happy that Kathy and Blake got together again. Turk was the love of her life but Blake gave her unconditional friendship and waited all those years in the shadows. In the mist of the sadness I was happy he got a chance at love as well. I completely dislike Danny and his dear mother... Letty

I have to agree with Kay on this one - Lacy is my least favourite historical. I think all the other storylines shift the focus away from Cole & Lacy. I would have liked to have explored their relationship and difficulties in more detail because it just felt a bit rushed. Kathy and Turks' story was satisfying, but the rest of the characters left me a bit cold.
Lacy is a slightly misleading title.Efy

I loved Lacy, but then I kind of like it when there are a few minor storylines within a book (escapade for example).... I think the love affair between Lacy and Cole was wonderful, I think Ben was a little g"* and really didn't deserve the girl (at least Cole was faithful to Lacy) but then I think that this sub plot showed just how different two brothers could be.... ![]()
Katy/Turk and Blake story was heartbreaking...two men in love with one woman...
but two totally different kinds of love...
I really didn't like historicals very much until I read these by DP...
Now I have more interest in other author's historicals>
Thank you Ms Palmer!

I finished rereading the book yesterday, I love Cole and Lacy. Ben was a complete jerk, Faye should have just told him to take a hike and raised the baby on her own, Turk and Katy were good, I'm glad that Katy and Blake came back together after Turks death, Blake really loved her, and after turning his life around. megan Alert | IP Printer-friendly page | Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I just finished reading this novel(A couple of weeks ago), it was fantastic, I like it especially because Lacy it was very independent , strong and snappy too and he so look like in shock by her sometimes , at first at least
I wish to find more palmer heroines like Lacy.DP write very good historical novels I like all of them .
the story of the sister was hard , and actually I would like that Blake had his own book...He would have been a great characterthanks I really enjoyed it.
( I hope you have understood my grammar)

I really enjoyed Lacy. I loved the multiple story lines because I felt like I got several books in one. I loved Turk and Katy, but I think I loved Blake more than Turk. I felt like he was the better man and would have liked to see her with him. My heart broke for him. Cole's brother was a selfish, self-absorbed jerk and I wished he would catch some horrible disease from sleeping with that witchy-hag woman!
