"I can't stop thinking about these two books!!"

Okay, help please! I have two romance novels that I have been trying to locate for years but I just can’t seem to remember the titles.

The first, I believe is likely a DP novel. It follows her usual format of an older, cold, wealthy man who resists the younger innocent female. I believe in this case the girl is staying at his family’s home for some reason. Anyway, he gets injured somehow near the end of the novel and she goes to say goodbye to him (I think she is standing in the door of his bedroom?) and something is mentioned about an engagement. She believes he is engaged to another but he was actually commenting on his intentions toward her. She may have heard about his “engagement” somehow before going to speak to him and that is what actually prompted her to leave. So, I know the details are sketchy here, but it sounds a lot like a DP book, especially like so many of her older (best) titles.

The second book I’m trying to hunt down I can remember a lot more about, but I do not think it is a DP novel. I read it probably ten or fewer years ago and liked it so much I saved it. Unfortunately, my younger sister read and lent out many of my books while I was away at college and I fear this was one that went missing. So here’s what I can recall…heroine inherits her friend/neighbor’s baby after the lady dies and leaves instructions for the heroine to take the baby to his father. All the heroine had ever heard about the baby’s father was that “cowboys will break your heart” or some such cryptic reply. The father is listed on the birth certificate with just a first initial and a last name. The heroine locates a ranch owned by what appears to be the namesake, but when she arrives she learns there are actually multiple (I think 3-5) brothers who all share the first initial of their name and last name. The oldest brother (hero) is suspicious of this woman because the youngest brother is just about to come of age and then all the siblings will receive their respective piece of a significant inheritance. She ends up staying on the ranch with the baby (I think the baby may be named Gabe?) to individually question the younger brothers, with the help of the eldest, about their potential for paternity. In the end, it turns out the long lost father of the brothers is actually the father of this baby (making it their sibling and threatening to withhold distribution of the inheritance) so the eldest son makes a deal with the deadbeat dad and then claims the baby as his own. Hero and Heroine have obviously fallen in love and the book ends with the two of them being married and her going into labor during calving season or something like that. Oh, of the other brothers I can remember that one was in a band, one was sensitive and still a virgin, and another was acutely sterile from a childhood illness.

I appreciate any help!!!

I think the second book is Five Brothers and a Baby by Peggy Moreland.

I gave this book away so I cannot flip through it to make sure but I looked it up on FictionDB and I think it is the right book.

If it is not the right book, please let me know and I will keep looking. I know I have read it.

Coincidentally, there is a book in this series (Sins of a Tanner) with the same cover as Rogue Stallion.

Thank you so much! I just read your post and have spent the last hour searching the web for excerpts from Peggy Moreland’s Five Brothers and a Baby, unfortunately to no avail. I can’t be certain this is the book I’m thinking of but I’ve ordered a copy and I’m now eagerly awaiting its arrival. I’ll let you know the verdict as soon as it arrives. I really hope you’re right and want to thank you again for your help!

Oh, I’ve read Ethan many times and unfortunately it isn’t the first book I mentioned, although they do share many similar qualities.
