Apparently she was so disappointed in how they adapted it - not very close to the original story. I don't mind the movie if you look at it as a romantic story set in the Napa valley. I have Diamond Girl in my TBR pile and will read it before watching the movie. I remember watching Loving Evangeline years ago and being irritated that they did not follow the book by Linda Howard. In response to message #2   I hate when they turn a book into a movie and it does not follow the book. It is so irritating when you are sitting there going "Ummm..That did not happen in the book."
